Ilmārs Blumbergs

Born in 1943 in the Republic of Latvia, died in 2016 in Germany.

In 1972 Mr.Blumbergs finished the Academy of Art in Latvia and worked as a stage design artist in a local Theatre of Arts in Riga, the capital of Latvia, until 1984. Further on he practiced as an individual artist, expressing himself in a wide range of fields, such as painting, graphics, silkscreen printing, litography, installations, sculpture, applied design, opera stage design, costume design, photography, movies, performance and audio.

From 1972 until 2013 Mr.Blumbergs has had over 25 personal exhibitions in over 9 countries, received over 40 individual awards internationally. His artworks are held in permanent collections in Latvia, Germany, Finland, Lithuania, France, Australie, Estonia, USA and elsewhere.

After the death of Mr.Blumbergs, since 2017 his artwork is being exhibited on annual basis, exhibitions being organized by the Blumbergs Foundation, more information available at www.blumbergafonds.com.
